As of January 22, 2009 OPG has changed the notice period for a change in the CO2 Emission adder from 1 month to 1 week. Effective February 12, 2009 OPG will reduce the CO2 emission adder from $7.50 per tonne to $1.00 per tonne. This change reflects OPG’s forecast for significantly reduced demand for coal-fuelled generation and associated CO2 emissions. The reduced demand is primarily due to lower electricity demand associated with weakened economic activity. The forecast is revisited on an ongoing basis and will be revised as required.
